Castolin Eutectic Ireland Limited operates a manufacturing plant, producing welding and coating consumables for the industrial, OEM and maintenance & repair markets. Our products are used worldwide to protect metals from damage and wear and to extend the useful life of industrial machinery. We have been manufacturing in Ireland for almost 60 years. We’re based in a purpose built facility in Magna Business Park, Citywest, Dublin 24.

The Role

The continuously evolving nature of the Company means that the role of Buyer/Planner will also continue to evolve. The main elements of the role are outlined below, as they apply to both the Procurement and Planning functions, but these elements will be subject to constant change, and focus, in line with the evolution of the Company.

 

Procurement

  • Involvement in all aspects of procurement, primarily the following:

  • Issuing of Purchase Orders (for Dublin and/or the Central Warehouse), checking acknowledgements, updating system and arranging collection of materials.

  • Expediting, rescheduling or cancelling material deliveries as dictated by changes in demand with the goal of continually aligning supply with demand.

  • Dealing with shipping companies on a daily basis to ensure materials are collected on time and that deliveries are received as expected.

  • Arranging for certificates of conformance to be available for all items prior to delivery

  • Work closely with planning department and warehouses to ensure material availability to meet the constantly changing production plan and customer demands.

  • Maintenance and management of non-stock order book, as needed.

  • Supporting New Product Introduction and re-sourcing of existing products/materials. Assisting with all other duties within the Purchasing Department such as:

  • Ensuring all relevant information in computer system is kept up-to-date – including supplier details, cross-reference information and prices Maintaining purchasing/planning system integrity as needed.

  • Maintaining inventory at required levels, and reporting on same.

  • Assisting in the processing of all invoices where required.

  • Participating in the development and implementation of all purchasing and planning policies and procedures, and in the continuous improvement of these

Planning

  •    Develop a comprehensive understanding of the planning model used in Castolin

  •   Suggest improvements to the planning processes and assist in the implementation of all agreed improvements

  • Management and maintenance of all planning parameters within the computer system, as they apply to finished products, intermediate products and raw materials

  • Regular review and update of safety stocks and re-order points

  • Maintenance and update of forecasting system

  • Assist with other any other duties/roles in the Planning Department as required

 

Job requirements

The Person

  • Must be a motivated, enthusiastic individual with ability to work on own initiative

  • Must be a Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Will demonstrate effective negotiation skills

  • Will have excellent computer/organisational skills as well as good numerical skills

  • Must be fluent in English – a second language would be a distinct advantage.

 

Experience and Qualifications

  • Must have at least 1-2 years’ experience in a purchasing environment, working with an MRP system.

  • Must be educated to a minimum of Certificate Level (preferably degree level) in a business related discipline at Third Level.

  • APICS or IIPMM qualification (or a willingness to complete) an advantage.

  • Must be a pro-active Self-starter, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must have good/excellent knowledge of Microsoft packages (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook)
