The role

We are currently looking for a Production Engineer to join our dynamic team in Newcastle.


The Production Engineers purpose is to oversee and enhance the application process within the business in the context of thermal metal spraying. Applying engineering expertise, process optimisation techniques and a keen understanding of thermal spray technologies, this role aims to elevate the efficiency and precision of coating applications. The Production Engineer plays a critical role in achieving optimal thermal spray outcomes, ensuring adherence to stringent quality standards and driving advancements in production methodologies specific to thermal metal spray applications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Support: Provide crucial engineering support to maintain the progress of production activities.
  • Drawing and Documentation: Produce and maintain engineering drawings, bill of Materials, and documentation.
  • Innovative Solutions: Engineer creative solutions for repair, replacement, modification, and improvement of components to enhance the company's capabilities.
  • Sourcing and Inspection: Source parts, consumables, subcontractors, and technology. Conduct quality inspections on parts and subcontract operations.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Maintain effective communication with suppliers to ensure the timely progress of manufacturing processes.
  • Test Equipment: Design, source, and install test equipment, compile technical information, and create instruction manuals to support equipment.
  • Commissioning and Calibration: Commission new test equipment and provide service, repair, and calibration of existing equipment in the field.
  • Fault Investigation: Oversee fault investigations and testing of new products or special projects.
  • Customer Interaction: Work with the sales team to promote business, diagnose faults, and offer technical support to customers.
  • Commercial Assistance: Assist the commercial department with part recognition and quotation generation.
  • Quality Compliance: Ensure all work, tasks, procedures, and documentation adhere to Quality Systems and standard practices.
  • Maintenance: Responsible for the overall maintenance and completion of factory maintenance and preventative maintenance schedule alongside.
  • Support off-site projects based both in the UK and further afield.

Skills and Education

  • HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in PC applications, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Extensive experience with Solidworks and Onshape drawing package.
  • Knowledge of fitting and assembly processes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and fluid dynamics.
  • Ability to interpret and read technical specifications and drawings.
  • Proven team-working skills with excellent planning and organizational abilities.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
