Director Supply Chain Planning (m/f/d)

Job description

The Director Supply Chain Planning is responsible for complex tasks and analyses, requiring a deep understanding of supply chain planning processes such as demand, S&OP, capacity planning, production planning, materials planning, Inventory management, distribution resource planning, Ops reporting, Ops budget and forecasting.

The person will have overall responsibility for ERP systems, tools, planning principles and deployment of a new ERP system. The role will require on-site activities at our Supply Centers globally as well as at our HQ in Kriftel, Germany.


  • Management of international ERP projects with a focus on supply chain planning and execution
  • Analysis of the requirements of the business and problems of the end users
  • Development of solution concepts with internal and external partners
  • S&OP, Demand management standards and process creation and deployment
  • Identification and development of integrated processes
  • Management and control of the technical implementation of new processes / functions
  • Ensure the operational stability within Global Supply Chain planning
  • Implementation of regional Supply Chain Management, harmonizing processes across sites and functions according to global best practices
  • Drive for sustainable processes in the area of regional Order-to-Cash, logistics and other operational tasks
  • Develop and implement supply chain initiatives reducing costs and improving net working capital
  • Be a champion for Supply Chain Excellence and drive continuous improve­ment projects
  • Continuously lead efforts, with inputs from Sales, Scheduling, Customer Service Desk, GBS and Logistics to resolve conflicts in Deliver to Promise
  • Always foster and contribute to a regular cross-regional information exchange with other Supply Chain leaders to ensure smooth fulfillment of Affiliate orders
  • Take accountability for regional Backlogs, ensuring on time delivery to customers through proactive planning and resolution of interdepartmental issues (finance, production, logistics)
  • Conduct Root Cause Analyses as part of assigned internal and external complaints, report on findings and define corrective and preventive measures
  • Manage regional supply chain cost center and drive cost optimization by proactively analyzing performance
  • Actively contribute to the achievement of Net Working Capital targets by monitoring inventory levels for and constantly evaluate for opportunities for improvement
  • Accountable for meeting supply chain targets based on monthly and quarterly order backlog
  • Deploy continuous improvement methodologies to generate BU benefits and global standardization
  • Regularly validate appropriate and up-to-date Supply Chain process documentation, SOP, etc. exists to meet internal and external audit requirements
  • Ensure the regional Supply Chain Management organization adapts to the evolving needs of the business unit
  • Foster a high-performance culture, leading and motivating employees and ensure implementation of Clariant Values and enable a continuous Performance Dialog – continuously foster team spirit and relationship building.
  • Drive employee development and capability building through appropriate training programs
  • Budget planning and development of project timelines
  • Effective allocation of budget resources based on business needs
  • Planning of external resources according to the project requirements
  • Management of the external partners and ensuring smooth cooperation

Job requirements

  • University degree (business economics/information systems, engineering) or equal practical experience
  • Excellent English skills and German would be a plus
  • People management up to 35 FTE
  • At least 8 years of experience in the field of Supply Chain Execution (SAP MM & PP including master data processes or equivalent system), inventory management in a production plant or a global supply centre
  • Ideally experience in SAP Master Data Governance or SAP Product Lifecycle Management
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management
  • General and integrated understanding of business processes
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills
  • Structured way of working, strong communication skills, solution and goal-oriented, team player
  • Knowledge of product costings processes and master data (Work centers, BoM’s, Routings, activity rates/types, overheads, cost centers, machines rates, labor rates, internal orders, allocation cycles).
  • Focused and structured personality
  • Proven skills to handle rapid changes and process promptly large volumes of data
  • Ability to prioritize work and navigate between detailed and overall approaches
  • Self-disciplined to control the quality of deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). An ability to convey complex financial information and rules and concepts to a non-financial audience
  • Global perspective – the ability to think broadly and globally.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel to manipulate data with pivot tables, graphs and formulas for reporting
  • Willingness to travel
